My ZvT is strong and my ZvP is quite decent. But my ZvZ is lacking-maybe because i bring the wrong approach to it. I pool 13, 16 hatch and grab ling speed. following that i get banelings. It appears however that im always vastly outnubered by lings. Would it be better to instead stay on 1 base and keep applying preasure and transition from sling to blings to mutas and securing first expo with mutas? Or how would you recommend? Ive tried placing multiple spinecrawlers ect. I can post replays if needed

I'm in the same boat when I play as Zerg...do fine in my ZvT and ZvP but my ZvZ is aweful.

im only a gold but im guessing the reason you are always outnumbered is because opponents are doing a standard speedling expand. the best way to counter it is build it imo. there are hard counters to the build but the build itself has been very useful for me in zvz, and its good to learn it.

the way it goes:

9 overlord
14 gas
14 pool
15 overlord
wait.

Once the pool pops you want to get a queen and speed (u should have exactly 100 gas) and start pumping out lings. take 2 drones off of gas to mine minerals and leave one on. keep pumping lings. at 21-22 supply expand to your natural. right around then you should have 50 gas for a baneling nest, build it, put a second drone back on the gas, and keep pumping lings. Go to his base and apply pressure, keep making lings, from there its a judge of what you see, if they expanded, hit them as soon as you can (the speed upgrade should be around done by this time). if you can overtake with just lings, send them in, if they have a lot of lings. morph 3-4 banes, and learn how to micro banes and lings (u can always blow up a mineral line, but if they have a lot lings at this point in the game they are more crucial to kill with banes so the rest of u lings can fight freely). Use your judgement to weather you can win the battle, if its promising, just keep sending lings. If the enemy is blocking with roach, hold the outside of their base as long as possible, and don't let them expand, while this is happening you want to drone up so you can get ahead in economy. from here you can either transition muta or to roach festor, whichever you prefer. 14 gas 14 pool 21 hatch into mass lings will get you to masters ZvZ (I mean pure lings only make 15 drones only and pull your guys off gas at 100 and you will have enough min to support 2 base) and then after that just spam lings. if he expo's you can just kill him and if he goes 1 base baneling you just base race with him because that means he will have less ling than you so he cant save his base if he run back cuz banes are so slow.
